Although born in New Zealand, Kim has lived most of her life in Holmfirth. Having been brought up surrounded by knitting, sewing, crochet and tapestry Kim has always had a particular passion for clothes and how they are put together. Although she has had little formal training, Kim’s natural instinct for colour and design has led to her worldwide reputation for producing amazing designs.
Kim built on her early design success and soon became Rowan’s head in house designer, creating hundreds of designs, selecting new yarn colours, as well as overseeing photography, styling and production of all the fashion stories within the magazines.
Kim has been responsible for creating the image and philosophy of Rowan. Kim achieved this through both her designs and her influence on photographic style, and through commissioning some of the best talent in design knitwear to contribute to the Rowan magazines.

Kim left Rowan in 2003 to set up her own label ‘Kim’, producing beautiful Kim Hargreaves designs using Rowan yarns, in kits which are sold through her internet business. In 2008 Kim launched her independent published books, exclusively distributed by Rowan.
Kim’s passion for fashion and apparel, her instinctive fashion flare and her natural instinct for colour and design has lead to her worldwide reputation for producing amazing wearable handknit designs.
