Sarah Dallas is a prominent knitwear designer, who is now a senior tutor in fashion and textiles at London’s prestigious Royal College of Art where she has also been a fellow since 1992. It was Sarah who first set up the fashion knitwear course at the RCA and teaching still gives her a huge amount of pleasure as she enjoys helping her students to draw out their own personalities within their own design work and push ideas to the extreme.
Sarah designed and produced her own ready to wear label for 12 years and has also worked as a consultant to Marks and Spencer, Next, Courtaulds and many more companies.
Sarah’s association with Rowan spans almost the 30 years of Rowan’s history and she has regularly contributed to the publications. Sarah’s first solo publishing venture was ‘Vintage Knitting’, and it was Stephen Sheard who encouraged her to start the book. It became a great seller and acted as the ignition for the current trend to redesign and style vintage knitting patterns.
Attention to detail along with highlights of bright colour characterise Sarah’s designs. “I admire the attention to detail, the understated beautiful knitwear, the pure finer qualities of Rowan wool”.
